Still Dying

I had another go at a painting I first finished in early 2013 called “Dying Flowers“. Lately I’ve been sanding down a lot of old canvases, getting them ready to paint over with something newer and fresher (and let’s face it, better). A few paintings, however, I’ve elected to keep and/or develop, at least for the time being. I’ve gone ahead and changed a few of them (for example, this one and this one), which is precisely what I’ve done with this painting here.

As anyone familiar with the old painting (link above) can see, this one is much more flushed out and detailed. I’m trying to be less gutless when it comes to art. I’m not saying this piece is at all courageous, but at least it’s a lot more dramatic than the original. I’ve also given the couple a child — a small boy — as I felt they were too ‘yuppie-like’ before, and I didn’t feel sympathy looking at them. Well, I still don’t, to be honest, but they’re a little less unlikable now…!
